I love bringing games into the art room with this age group! These Doodlebugs are so much fun naturally so you can imagine the excitement level when I bring out some dice and tell them we're going to play a game!
I found this game online and there are all different versions. This one is Roll-a-Crazy-Critter! They each got a sheet with critter body parts and there are 6 different options each with an assigned number. So the child rolls the dice and circles the body part to match the number they rolled. I had them practice their critters on the white boards first, then they drew them out on paper and painted in 'crazy' colours to match :)
This game brings lots of skills into play. We touched on numbers and counting, matching and of course coordination and fine motor skills in the drawing and painting of the critters :) Oh and of course it's just plain fun!
Be a fly on the wall in our art room! Take a look at what we do, how we do it and the smiles that I get to see week after week :)
