Huh?? What is a terrarium? Well our tiniest Imaginators spent the morning at The Reading Garden exploring the book How a Seed Grows so I thought it fitting to use this little terrarium painting to bring their day full circle :)
Of course, we talked about what they did with Aunty Reiko and then I showed them pictures of what a terrarium could look like. It's just like an aquarium but for plants! I found some cool little facts on NASA's Climate Kids site that I shared and then it was on to drawing and painting! We drew the terrarium from a template I made just so all the kiddos started out with a space that was the right size. Then they drew their line for soil and put in the parts of the flower... stem, petals, roots etc. They drew in oil pastels and painted in using liquid watercolours. I got to use my favourite oil pastel resist technique for the roots and the reaction never ceases to make me smile. Take a look at our terrific terrariums :)
See what the did at The Reading Garden.
